Everyone arrived last night with no problems — all their baggage as well as all team members (very unusual for Africa trips!). Today we spent organizing gear and logistics for the expedition, as well as visiting a local village for a traditional meal and a bit more knowledge of how the locals live. Highlights included a visit to a coffee plantation and watching the way coffee goes from plant to drink using traditional methods.

Tomorrow we begin the 6 day climb. Our first day is a 4-5 hour hike from the gate at 6000 feet to 1st camp at 8500 feet. We are climbing the rarely traveled Rongai route. More updates to come from the sat phone!
