When I received a call earlier today that my caller id displayed as a number with no less than 15 digits, I knew it must be Jaime on the other end. Sure enough, after one dropped call, a conversation interrupted by whipping winds (they were on the summit of Pico Austria), my own ignorance of the Spanish language, and a discussion with Adrian confirming the names of peaks that I believe Jaime mentioned, I managed to decipher the following:

The team climbed and summited Pico Austria today in perfect weather. They had a magnificent view of Pequeño Alpamayo, which they will attempt after they climb Pequeño Ilusion tomorrow. They were all heading back down to basecamp to meet Mariko, who was not feeling quite acclimatized enough for today’s climb, but will surely be well-rested and feeling good for tomorrow. Each member of the team is doing great and is ready to keep charging up more Bolivian peaks!

I’ll be back with more as soon as I hear.
