Alpenglow Expeditions is expanding our office team for the 2023 summer season. We are looking for a hardworking and passionate team member to join us who loves outdoor adventure in Lake Tahoe. As the newest member of our home team you’ll be joining the only accredited Mountain Guide Service in Lake Tahoe and will be surrounded by like-minded people who want to share their passion with others. Whether we’re chatting about our Tahoe Via Ferrata or discussing a multi-pitch climbing day at Lover’s Leap, our goal is to provide a unique and excellent experience for each client who desires to explore mountains in Lake Tahoe and across the world.

Front Desk Position

For summer 2023 we have both full-time and part-time positions available. Part-time positions will be 25-30 hours a week and, depending on demand could flex up or down. We see the bulk of our clientele on weekends, so being available for weekend work is a must. This position will be located in our main offices in the Village at Palisades Tahoe and involves both indoor and outdoor work.

This front desk position is a customer service role, and primary duties include being a friendly source of great information about our adventures, taking new reservations, answering client questions, checking clients in before their outing, and driving climbers up to the base of the Tahoe Via Ferrata.

Once all teams are in the field, duties shift to running our mobile rock climbing wall, handling base radio communications with guides, and answering all guest inquiries via phone, email and text. Through onsite training, the person in this position will be knowledgeable about our services, answering client email inquiries and assisting each client with their decision about which course or experience to reserve.

Being a part of our Front Desk staff  requires you to be comfortable with digital platforms and office work. This new staff member should be customer service oriented and comfortable with interacting with members of the public.

The position will be available starting mid-June 2023 through early September, with the potential to extend into fall and winter operations for the right candidate. The starting rate for this position is $18/hr and includes outdoor industry discounts along with free climbing and skiing courses through Alpenglow.

 

An ideal candidate will have some or all of the following skills:

• Comfort with learning digital sales platforms and proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel and Gmail.

• Excellent customer service skills with at least 1 year of experience in a guest service position or relevant experience

• Possesses a clean driving record & willing to learn how to drive a 4×4 vehicle

• Able to perform a variety of duties, often changing from one task to another in a short amount of time

• Performs well with frequent interruptions and/or distractions

• Enjoys working in a team environment with a common goal
