Lake Tahoe Moonlight Snowshoe Tour

Lake Tahoe Moonlight Snowshoe Tour
Step into a winter wonderland few ever experience. Shirley Canyon, famous for its summer trails, transforms into a magical night-time adventure when the snow falls and the moon rises.
Wander beneath towering cliffs, past frozen waterfalls glistening with ice, and along serene snow-covered trails illuminated by moonlight. This isn’t just a snowshoe hike—it’s a rare chance to explore one of Tahoe’s hidden winter gems under the glow of the moon.
Experience Shirley Canyon in a completely new light. Join a 3-hour guided Moonlight Snowshoe Tour, running multiple times a month from 4-7 PM, departing from the Alpenglow office. As you head out, darkness falls just as the moon begins to rise, casting the canyon in a stunning, ethereal glow. Your guide can choose to lead the group through the canyon past sparkling frozen waterfalls or up to the Tram Ridge viewpoint for incredible alpine views.
At your chosen stopping point, enjoy hot beverages and snacks provided by Alpenglow while your guide captures epic photos of the group under the moonlit sky. Headlamps are provided, but when the full moon is out, you’ll hardly need them! As stars appear overhead, take in the quiet beauty of Tahoe at night before snowshoeing back to our office to warm up, relax, and enjoy a final sip of hot beverage—ending a perfect night in Lake Tahoe.
You can also book a private tour if you’d like to experience the full moon at a different location around the lake.
