With a rich history dating back decades, the Blanca has been a focal point for climbers seeking to test themselves and grow as much as it has been a training ground for burgeoning mountaineers.
Alpenglow’s Peru Climbing School provides a unique opportunity to delve into the storied past of climbing in the Cordillera Blanca while honing technical climbing skills in a dynamic alpine environment. From its inception, our school has attracted climbers eager to learn and grow amidst the stunning landscapes of Peru’s highest peaks.
Our first iconic peak in the range is Yanapaccha, renowned for its moderately technical routes and breathtaking glacier scenery. At 17,913’/5,460m, Yanapaccha presents climbers with an array of challenges to learn and train skills, from steep ice faces to crevasse-laden glaciers.
Second is Pisco, which has long been a favorite among climbers. Rising to an impressive height of 18,871’/5,752m, Pisco offers a challenging yet accessible ascent, making it an ideal training ground for aspiring mountaineers and a solid culmination of all the skills learned throughout the expedition.
The Cordillera Blanca has always been a place of discovery and exploration. With its towering peaks and dramatic landscapes, it continues to inspire adventurers from around the world to push beyond their comfort zones and embrace the challenges of the mountains.
