A few days ago, I was fortunate to connect with Ignacio ‘Nacho’ Espinosa, Lead Guide from our February ‘24 Ecuador Climbing School, to recap our most recent trip to the volcanoes of Ecuador:

“This expedition was super fun, everyone was really friendly. We spent a few days on Cayambe and did our training, although the weather wasn’t the best on those days. But for Antisana and Chimborazo, we had amazing climbing conditions and beautiful weather. And the thing is, in Ecuador, we have these accessible mountains with lodges at the base, and beautiful haciendas to recover. In general, this expedition had no troubles at all, and we had the chance to have an amazing two weeks.

I also think that Alpenglow does a really great job building its teams. Everyone had such a positive and easygoing attitude, which made our teams work really well. For me, it was one of the best trips I’ve had in a long time. Everyone who came on the trip brought something special to the team. What you learn spending time in the mountains is that it’s not just about the technical skills, it’s about the attitude we approach the mountains with, and the friendships we create there.”
