Well life is good! We are in Namche Bazaar, about to enjoy big yak steaks, french fries, cold beer, and watching updates come in from the US elections. It should be a fun night at the local pub, our first (outside of our base camp dining tent) in almost a month.
Leaving basecamp today was made even easier by deteriorating weather, with clouds in the valley and a dusting of snow up high on the peaks. We are feeling very fortunate for our timing, and hoping the teams still attempting summits are not deterred.
We will post photos and more details of our summits and the route when back in Kathmandu in 2 days. One of our Sherpa, Dorje, led and fixed every inch of the route above Camp 3 and did a stellar job. None of our summits would have been possible without his effort, supported by 5 additional HimEx/Alpenglow sherpa, along with support from Henry Todd, IMG, and AC. It was a fantastic late season effort on the mountain, and we are excited to share more stories and photos from the climb!
We are also excited to announce two upcoming slideshows about this fall’s Himalaya season. Alpenglow and Himalayan Experience guide Adrian Ballinger will be sharing stories from Manaslu and Ama Dablam on the following dates:
– December 11 in Lake Tahoe, California (part of the Alpenglow Sports Slideshow Series)
-January 21 in Aspen, Colorado (part of the ACES Potbelly Perspectives Series)
We hope you will join us at one of these shows. Or contact us to schedule a slideshow in your town.
Namaste from Namche!
