Tahoe Via Ferrata is OPEN
Happy Opening Day: May 26, 2020!
We are so excited to announce that the Tahoe Via Ferrata is OPEN! With COVID-19 precautions in place, we are now running private 2.5-hr and 4-hr Via Ferrata tours at Squaw Valley in addition to private rock climbing sessions at Donner Summit. We can’t wait to climb with you!
Tahoe Via Pricing
Part of our COVID-19 re-opening plan is to limit our offerings to private climbs only, with no open-enrollment group options available. We slashed rates on private 2.5-hour and private 4-hour groups so that pricing starts at $299 and $399 for a group of 1-2 people, and the per person price gets better as you add more climbers. In these early days of re-opening, we encourage you to climb with your immediate family and close contacts, instead of mixing in with a public group.
New “Beast”
New for 2020, our beloved 4×4 safari vehicle, affectionately named “The Beast” got a beefy upgrade. She’s bigger and badder than ever before with a new Ram 5500 cab and chassis with sparkly new decals and a paint job. This summer we’ll be cruising up Mountain Run to the base of the Via Ferrata in style!
COVID-19 Modifications
For a detailed breakdown of all the modifications we’ve made to our guiding operations in light of COVID-19, read Modifications to Tahoe Via Guiding Operations or call the office 877-873-5376.
Early Season Operations
FUN FACT: Squaw Valley receives an average of 450” of snowfall each winter. As you can imagine, it takes some time for the high-elevation snowpack to melt out of the Sierras. As soon as the routes start to dry out each spring, usually in late April or early May, we start preparing to open! Read more about our early season operations here.
