What Is the Tahoe Via Ferrata?
If you’re new here, the Tahoe Via Ferrata is a fixed climbing route on the iconic Tram Face at Palisades Tahoe. Climbers use a harness, helmet, and lanyard system to clip into steel cables that run the entire route—making it one of the most accessible and exciting ways to enjoy the vertical world, no matter your climbing experience. No need to bring any gear and beginners welcome. We guide you the entire way.

Why You Should Book Now
The Via Ferrata is one of the most popular summer activities in Lake Tahoe—and for good reason. It’s high adventure with low risk, an unforgettable half-day experience that makes a great addition to any summer weekend or group trip. Popular dates in June and July tend to book early, especially for groups. Take advantage of the Early Bird savings now and secure your climb.
Who Can Climb?
The Tahoe Via Ferrata is for everyone (as long as they are taller than 3’11”)! Due to the manufacturer’s limitations, participants who weigh less than 88 lbs or more than 264 lbs must be booked in a private group. In these cases, the guide will add a second rope to assist in the steeper, more vertical sections. This won’t impact your ability to participate—it just keeps the experience safe and smooth for everyone.
Fitness-wise, if you can climb a ladder and walk a trail for more than an hour, you’re good to go.
Make Your Summer Plan Now
The snow is melting, the trails are drying out, and we’re getting ready to climb. Opening day is set for May 16—mark your calendar and grab your spot early.
