Private Half-Day of Rock Climbing
Come rock climbing on Donner Summit, just outside of Truckee, CA!
These easy to moderate climbing crags are the perfect place to enjoy rock climbing with friends and family. Whether you’re new to climbing, experienced, or somewhere in between, our guides tailor each day to your specific needs, goals, and abilities. Share your ideas and ambitions with us — and let us customize the perfect day for you!
For beginners, a day with Alpenglow Expeditions includes learning basic knots, belay techniques, and climbing movement. The focus is always on fun, safety, and learning. If you’re already experienced, let’s chat about how you’d like to spend your day on the rock.
THE ALPENGLOW DIFFERENCE
As a Tahoe-based guide company with countless expeditions to high-altitude peaks around the world over the past 15 years, we bring a wealth of experience and knowledge to our beloved ‘home mountain’. Our teaching and guiding philosophy has been shaped on the flanks of Himalayan giants and the technical peaks of Peru, and we are excited to bring that expertise to this incredible mountain.
In addition to our international expedition roots, we are accredited by the American Mountain Guides Association (AMGA), one of the few guide services in the region to meet this high standard. Each of our guides is trained by the AMGA in the specific terrain where they operate, and our program is overseen by internationally licensed IFMGA mountain guides. This high standard, combined with our years of experience, ensures an exceptional mountain adventure.
- You tell us –
- Let us know what your goals are
Whether you’d like to learn basic rock climbing skills, focus on a specific method or style of climbing, or send as many different routes as possible, you and your guide will work together to create the perfect day.
For half days, we usually meet at the crag between 8am-9am, or 12pm-1pm. From there, it’s up to you how the day plays out. For an introductory climbing day, we’ll spend a few minutes going over the basics of climbing safety and movement before tying in. If you are already experienced, we can get on the wall right away.
