Climb Mt. Rainier with Alpenglow and the Juniper Fund

Investing in the safety, skills, and future of Himalayan mountain workers
At Alpenglow Expeditions, we’ve spent years building strong partnerships in the Himalaya—relationships based on trust, shared purpose, and mutual respect. We’ve always believed that mountain workers in Nepal deserve access to world-class training and safety education. That’s why we’re proud to support the Khumbu Climbing Center (KCC) and its next chapter.
The Khumbu Climbing Center, located in the village of Phortse in the Everest region, has long been a hub for training Nepali climbers, guides, and high-altitude workers. From avalanche safety and crevasse rescue to technical rope systems and emergency response, KCC provides critical skills that save lives. Many of the Sherpa climbers on our Himalayan expeditions have spent time training at the Center—sharpening their skills, expanding their knowledge, and strengthening their leadership in the mountains.
Now, that mission is getting even stronger.
The Juniper Fund—a non-profit organization that has supported the families of fallen mountain workers in Nepal since 2012—is stepping into a new role as the financial steward of the Khumbu Climbing Center. This move ensures long-term sustainability and support for the KCC, while honoring the legacy of its founders and the Sherpa community it serves.
This isn’t just a change in paperwork—it’s a commitment to the future of climbing in Nepal. With the Juniper Fund’s stewardship, the KCC can continue to grow, evolve, and provide training for the next generation of Nepali climbers, ensuring they have the tools they need to work safely and lead effectively.
We’re excited to support this evolution, and we invite you to be part of it.
Join the Mt. Rainier Fundraising Climb (July 12-15)
This summer, we are partnering with the Juniper Fund to organize a four-day fundraising climb on Mt. Rainier, and all proceeds go directly to the Khumbu Climbing Center. This climb isn’t just about reaching the summit—it’s about building something bigger.
Participants will receive professional guiding, gear consultation, and a deep connection to the people who keep the climbing world turning—on Rainier, in the Khumbu, and beyond.
If you’ve been looking for a way to give back to the climbing community that’s given us all so much, this is it. Come climb Rainier and help make Himalayan climbing safer for everyone.
